Volunteer With OCIA

OCIA has historically welcomed people who want to contribute their time, skills and experience to work supporting children and communities.

Older application forms, placement durations and historical role documents are not treated as current volunteer requirements. Current opportunities should be confirmed with OCIA.

Have you been looking for a challenging and exciting internship that allows you to develop yourself, make a useful contribution by touching the lives of others in a meaningful way and to obtain a unique experience? Are you curious about the Ugandan culture? Are you interested in leaving your familiar surroundings to live in Africa for a while? Do you want to use your time to help the people in East Africa?

Do you want to spend some time working practically before going to university? If you are, this is the moment to grab your chance! We are looking for people to help us out and assist us aiming to improve the livelihood of the poor in our community.

Volunteers are the backbone of OCIA. Without them, much of the work we do would not be possible. Each year, our family and friends, our corporate partners and sponsors generously give their time, skills and energy to support our work with the disadvantaged Ugandan children and their families.

Our volunteer mentors support young people who are making the challenging transition from school to work or further studies. Our volunteer tutors help students to improve their literacy by providing basic English language skills to help vulnerable children in our communities. We are also assisted by a nationwide team of administration and project support volunteers who work behind the scenes to help with the day-to-day operations of OCIA. You can help disadvantaged Ugandan children get the most out of their education and create a better future for themselves. Join our community of volunteers and help us to provide the support these children need.

Share Your Skills With OCIA

OCIA's legacy volunteer program welcomed people interested in education, mentorship, administration and project support. Current roles and placement periods are confirmed individually rather than copied from older application materials.

Historical context: Older OCIA material described placements lasting between two and four months and downloadable 2020 volunteer documents. Those terms are historical and are not treated as current requirements.
