From Community Action to a Growing Mission
OCIA's historical records trace its beginnings to Uganda in 2017, where the organization emerged in response to the needs of vulnerable children and families.
Early activities focused on children experiencing poverty, abandonment, family instability and barriers to education. OCIA developed around the belief that education, health, family support and community participation must be addressed together.
Historical OCIA records describe community work in areas including Nansana, Kawempe, Gganda, Bakuli and Mengo in central Uganda. Over time, the work expanded into education, sponsorship, health support, outreach and empowerment.
The continuing purpose is to create opportunities for vulnerable children and families to live with greater dignity, confidence and independence.
